Muhairwe Education Trust Ltd (METL) is a non-profit organization set up to give hope to the disadvantaged children through higher education and research.

The Ugandan government introduced Universal Primary Education and Universal Secondary Education as part of its policy to provide free education in every family. However education after secondary education is prohibitively expensive and the majority of children would never get the chance to continue their education. This in turn means that they have no qualifications and therefore struggle to get any meaningful employment and continue in the vicious circle of poverty.

The METL aims at improving this situation by offering disadvantaged children with an opportunity to advance their career at higher institutions of learning and also promote research. This is believed to be the most effective way of supporting development though education and showing faith and confidence in the country’s great future.
