KASANDE IMMACULATE

I am called Kasande immaculate graduated with a bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering at Ndejje University Luwero main campus. My intake to METL was 2018 and I graduated in October 2022.I managed to get a second class upper of 3.95 CGPA.I am currently working as a support staff Engineer with CR18G under planning and measurement department.

I personally benefited from METL through providing my accommodation and up keep at campus. I was able to get tuition but I didn’t have what to eat, where to sleep, lectures requirements but METL helped me to achieve these requirements and I was able to accomplish my degree. Also, METL has really become my family through advice, encouragement and training us not only to excel in classes but also being hard workings and having good character and attitude.

The advice I have acquired from Metl has helped me to be a good hard-working girl at my workplace where everyone wishes to work with me. I am so humbled METL. I am looking forward to continue my studies (masters degree) and I appreciate my Daddy for being my mentor in this field.
I recommend everyone reading this to have a heart of Donating to METL for other students who are like me to achieve their education.

I came from a humble family where we even didn’t have our own land, we were just staying in other people’s land but now we have managed to buy our land and put small house. At least now we are better than we used to be in my family and hoping to be better than that.my appreciation to all METL TEAM.

In 2011, my future seemed uncertain. I had just completed Senior Six, but I hadn’t qualified for a government scholarship to study electrical or software engineering. With no clear path forward, hope felt out of reach.

Then, the Muhairwe Education Trust changed everything through their scholarship, I received school fees, functional fees, and accommodation, enabling me to pursue a degree in Software Engineering.

This support was life-changing, but life’s challenges didn’t end there. Shortly after graduation, I lost my mother, leaving me to support my siblings and extended family. However, the values instilled by the Trust—resilience, gratitude, and giving back—remained my guiding principles.

In 2016, I joined the National Water and Sewerage Corporation as a graduate trainee. My career quickly progressed: I became an ICT Officer within two months, then rose to Senior Business Process Analyst, and finally to Principal IT Officer. Alongside my professional journey, I co-founded a software company and launched a passion project—a perfume business.

All of this was possible because someone gave me a chance. At the Muhairwe Education Trust, giving back is not an obligation—it’s a privilege. We give back because we believe others deserve the same opportunities we were blessed with.

Today, I proudly support the Trust as an alumnus, knowing my contributions help open doors for others. There’s always someone out there who needs that one chance, that one opportunity, to change their life. That’s why I give back—to ensure the Trust continues to create a brighter future for many more.

When my dreams seemed out of reach, the Muhairwe Education Trust Fund became my guiding light. Born into a humble family with many siblings, affording education felt impossible because my parents couldn’t manage paying fees. But through the trust fund’s kindness and belief in my potential, I was given a chance that changed my life forever.

With their support, I joined Uganda Christian University’s Law School and later the Law Development Centre. They lifted the heavy burden of tuition fees that my family could not afford. This wasn’t just financial help it was also a gift of hope and a chance to build a future.

Today, because of their generosity, I have built a career as a legal officer. I am now able to support some of my siblings, care for dependents, and bring positive change to my community. This success is not mine alone; it shows how powerful education can be.

Education is more than just getting a job. It helps us break free from poverty, achieve our dreams, and uplift others who are struggling. To anyone on this journey, take it seriously. Education has the power to change lives, lift families, and transform communities.

With determination and the right opportunity, anything is possible. I am proof of that. The METL support has made all the difference, and now I can pass that gift on to others.

I am Dr. Patrick Amanya, a proud medical doctor and current intern at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital in Uganda.

I graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Kabale University, where I achieved a CGPA of 4.11, one of the highest  in my cohort, reflecting my commitment to excellence and to serving those in need.

Hailing from the underdeveloped, local district of Buhweju, I am honored to be the first doctor from my subcounty—a milestone that drives me to uplift my community and country by improving healthcare access.

My journey to becoming a doctor was made possible by the Muhairwe Education Trust Ltd (METL), which offered me the critical support I needed when my dreams seemed out of reach. After missing out on government sponsorship and a student loan, I faced the painful prospect of abandoning my dream due to financial constraints, even enduring a full academic year without funding.

METL’s scholarship reignited my hope, not only by providing financial support but also through invaluable mentorship and guidance from Dr. William Muhairwe and the entire METL team. With their support, I completed my studies and now stand poised to give back to society through my work in medicine and my contributions to the Trust.

I am currently exploring two vital specialties—Cardiology and Nephrology—with the aspiration to ultimately become a professor in one of these fields. Both areas are deeply personal to me, as they address the critical needs of our healthcare system and are fields where I feel I can make the greatest impact. I am committed to a future of advancing these specialties within Uganda, contributing to research, treatment, and patient education.

For anyone considering supporting the METL cause, I stand as a testament to the transformative power of this scholarship fund.

My journey from a financially struggling student to a fully qualified doctor is a direct result of METL’s generosity and belief in my potential.

Through METL, I gained not only a degree but also the tools and confidence to serve my community. Supporting METL means enabling more young Ugandans from underserved regions to fulfill their potential, especially in fields that desperately need skilled professionals. I am immensely grateful for the opportunities METL has provided, and I am committed to carrying forward their mission through my own career.

In contributing to METL, you are not only changing individual lives but also building a stronger healthcare system and empowering a new generation of Ugandan leaders.

Together, we can create a legacy of opportunity, service, and excellence that extends far beyond the individual and strengthens communities nationwide.

My name is Aleer David Leek, and I am a recent graduate in Petroleum Geoscience and Production from Makerere University, where I was part of the Muhairwe Education Trust Limited (METL) intake of 2018 and graduated in 2023

The Muhairwe Education Trust Limited (METL) has profoundly influenced my educational and personal development, shaping me into the individual I am today. As a recipient of their support, I can confidently say that METL has instilled in me a sense of leadership, a commitment to academic excellence, and a belief in my potential to achieve my dreams. From the outset, METL emphasized the importance of leadership and academic rigor. The values instilled in me through their programs encouraged me to strive for excellence in my studies, culminating in my attainment of a first-class degree. This achievement was not merely a reflection of my hard work; it was made possible by the unwavering support and motivation that METL provided. They fostered an environment where academic success was celebrated, and I was inspired to push my boundaries and reach new heights. Beyond academic excellence, METL offered invaluable networking and mentorship opportunities.

I urge others to support the cause of METL because it plays a crucial role in empowering young individuals from less privileged backgrounds to pursue their educational dreams. By providing financial assistance and fostering an environment of excellence, METL is not just supporting students; it is grooming future leaders who will contribute positively to society.

My name is Ismael Ssali, a proud Ugandan by descent, 32 years old, and originally from the islands of Kalangala District. In August 2011, I was fortunate to be awarded a study scholarship from METL after being admitted to Makerere University to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. This marked the beginning of an incredible academic journey that culminated in February 2016 when I graduated with a Second-Class Upper Division and a CGPA of 3.75.

In 2021, with a strong desire to deepen my skills and broaden my horizons, I enrolled in a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management (DPPM) at the Uganda Management Institute. I completed this program in 2022, achieving a Second-Class Upper certificate with a CGPA of 4.35. My pursuit of knowledge didn’t stop there, I began a Master of Science degree in Renewable Energy at Makerere University in 2022, and I am currently finalizing my research for submission.

I am honoured to be a registered member of the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE), and to contribute to my country through my role as a Mechanical Engineer at the Ministry of Water and Environment, specifically in the Department of Water for Production Regional Centre – North.

The road to where I am today was not an easy one. When I lost my father in 2002, my mother became the backbone of our family, tirelessly working to support us by growing and selling produce like cassava, tomatoes, and yams. The dream of a university education seemed distant due to financial challenges, but METL changed everything. They stepped in to cover my tuition, functional fees, and accommodation throughout my four years at Makerere University. Beyond the financial support, METL’s mentoring programs provided me with invaluable guidance and growth.

Today, I’m proud to pay it forward by contributing 10% of my monthly gross salary to METL, helping them support other students who, like me, need a hand to reach their dreams. I invite anyone who can to donate to METL, ensuring that more bright, ambitious students have the chance to transform their lives through education.
