At the institute of Public Administration, I taught development economics including the preparation of development projects in third world countries. Later, I was seconded by government to Tropical African Bank to start a development Project Analysis Department (DPAD)

  • Chief Economist – Tropical Africa Bank Ltd (1976 - 1985)

  • Director – Development Department – Tropical African Bank (1978 - 1985)

I worked in Tropical Africa Bank for nearly 13years, first as a Chief Economist and director of the development projects Department, then as Director of the Development Projects Department and finally as Assistant General Manager.
I am therefore an Economist and development Banker.

  • Assistant General Manager – Tropical African Bank (1985 - 1990)

  • Chairman - Total (U) Ltd (1991 - 1996)

I was appointed by the Government to the Board of Directors of Total (U) Ltd.
My responsibility was to chair the meetings of the board of directors of the company. The Board made the broad policies which regulated the operations of the company. During my term of office, the operation of the company improved a great deal till the company became more profitable and the staff welfare improved as well.  I left the company when it became fully privatized, but even then I was asked to work as a private consultant for the company for two years.

  • Member – Public Service Commission of Uganda (1991-1997)

As a member of the Public Service Commission (PSC) I was engaged in the recruitment, promotion and disciplining of the civil servants. I did this work with great integrity and responsibility until my term ended. During my work in the PSC I gained a good experience on modern recruitment methods, human resource evaluation methods and approaches to disciplining of officers.

  • Management Consultant for Kampala Grain Milling Company (1997-1998)

As a management consultant, I was recruited to restructure the entire UGMC before it was privatized. I worked with a team of management professionalism and as such we were able to restructure the firm in all areas of its operation including: Finance, human resource, manufacturing and marketing.
UGMC was a very large company indeed with four manufacturing plants. Its restructuring was a great experience.  Since then I have also done more consultancies.

  • Management Consultant on Bore Hole Water Project for Masindi and Luworo (July 1998)

I learned that the extreme hardships some of our people experience regard to not only access to clean water but to access water at all. For example, in the sub county of Bulisa in Masindi district, we found that inspite of the people living on the shores of Lake Albert; the water was so dirty that it was undrinkable. We, therefore, established beyond doubt that these people needed bore holes.
