MUHAIRWE EDUCATION TRUST (METL) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2024 - 2025 UNIVERSITY INTAKE

Are you a big dreamer who wants to be the change you want to see and show the world that coming from a humble background does not mean you cannot rewrite your destiny?

Have you studied in a rural, peri-urban, or urban poor (slum/USE) setting?

Have you qualified to attend the university with excellent results but failed to get admission on any sponsorship scheme, yet you cannot afford to pursue your dream?

Do not despair. The Muhairwe Education Trust Limited (METL), a non-profit organization, was set up to help you achieve your dream, give you hope, and a future. You will be able to join a pool of academicians and colleagues who have graduated under this scholarship scheme and who are also individually or collectively contributing towards this cause.

This trust is dependent on private voluntary support and contributions and is now seeking to sponsor students who have completed A’ levels with exceptional grades but have failed to get any funding assistance to pursue their careers. The offer is limited and very competitive.

Applicants will be required to provide the following in order to qualify for the scholarship, after a transparent vetting exercise.

  1. Academic results and certificates from previous academic institutions, including O’and A’ level results
  2. Proof of inability to self-finance (concrete evidence will be required)
  3. A Cover Letter/ Personal Development Plan (PDP) specifying achievements, ambitions, aspirations, and dreams. Please also indicate your contact details and those of three referees, who should not be relatives
  4. Proof of admission to a post-secondary school academic institution
  5. Admission in the fields of Medicine, Engineering, and Law in a public university or Chartered University under private sponsorship
  6. The applicant should not be holding any other form of scholarship funding from the government, church, NGOs, etc.
  7. He/she should not be above 25 years of age and must have sat UACE exams in 2021 and the years after.
METL may also consider one-off grants to students undertaking postgraduate research leading to a Master's degree or PhD. For this, only holders of a first-class honors degree in the disciplines mentioned above should apply. Research topics may have to be agreed upon with the METL and the corresponding research institutions in Uganda. Research topics in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its application in the water sector as regards SDG 6 in developing countries are encouraged.

Successful candidates will be shortlisted and interviewed, and thorough background checks will be conducted to qualify for the sponsorship.

Applications should be emailed to the METL Coordinator on muhairwetrust@gmail.com or hand-delivered to the reception on ground floor - Padre Pio House, Plot 32 Lumumba Avenue, Kampala by5:00 PM on 07th September 2024..
