MUHAIRWE EDUCATION TRUST (METL) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM UNIVERSITY INTAKE

Are you an ambitious young person who dreams of positively impacting your society and show the world that hailing from a humble background should not be a limit to achieving your dreams? Have you studied in a rural, peri-urban, or urban poor setting? Have you qualified for university with excellent grades but were unable to get admission on any sponsorship scheme, leaving you unable to fund yourself to pursue your dream?

Don't you give up! The Muhairwe Education Trust Limited (METL), a non-profit organization, is here to assist you in realizing your dreams and providing you with a ray of hope for a bright future. You will be able to join a group of academics and colleagues who have graduated as a result of this scholarship program. This trust is dependent on private voluntary support and contributions and is now seeking to sponsor student that have completed A’ levels with very good grades but have failed to get any funding assistance to pursue their careers
Applicants will be required to provide the following in order to qualify for the scholarship, after a transparent vetting exercise

  1. Academic results and certificates from previous academic institutions, including O’ level results
  2. Letters of Recommendation from a Faith leader, school authority and local community leader indicating character, inability to self-finance etc
  3. A written cover letter/ personal development plan (PDP) specifying achievements, ambitions, aspirations and dreams Proof of admission to a post-secondary school academic institution
  4. Admission in the fields of Medicine, Engineering, Law, Commerce in a public university or Chartered University under private sponsorship
  5. The applicant should not be holding any other form of scholarship funding from government, church, NGOs etc
  6. He/ She should not be above 25 years.Successful candidates will be shortlisted, interviewed and thorough background checks conducted to qualify for the sponsorship.

Selection Criteria

The Board of Trustees will always select a multi-stakeholder Evaluation Committee comprising of well qualified and reputable personnel who shall vet and select beneficiaries, based on the following criteria, among others: 

  1. Quality of academic results from previous academic institutions
  2. Level of inability to be self-financially supportive (concrete evidence shall be required)
  3. Quality of the Personal Development Plan (PDP), specifying the ambitions and aspirations of the applicant
  4. Availability of admission to a post-secondary school academic institution (only for post-qualification)
